About The Artist
Amy Ashton grew up in Phoenix, AZ where she lived a typical suburban life studying graphic design. 15 years later, after moving to Seattle, WA, finding like-minded communities, and self-realizations around queerness and neurodivergence Amy’s art is shaped by these experiences. She uses bright colors and surrealism to give a surface level positive aesthetic, but with imagery that asks the viewer to think deeper about what is happening and if everything is actually alright. This is meant to mimic how politeness and tradition act as a veneer in our society, hiding systematic oppression. By peeling back the thin layer of rationalizing lies, art can begin discussions and evolve thinking.
